We built Heliomath with the kids nothing else was working for.
If a child works hard and still doesn’t learn, that is the instruction failing the child. Not the other way around.
That standard applies to our own instruction first, so we put money behind it: if a learner completes three sessions a week — roughly 75 minutes of math instruction — and doesn’t advance a full grade level in their first three months, we refund every dollar. That includes kids with significant learning differences. Just ask.
What works for the kids who struggle most works better for everyone.
- Learners with strong foundations can learn from almost anything — so they can’t tell you whether your instruction is actually any good.
- The kids nothing else has reached can. Today they’re 72% of our learners: our core customers, always.
- Every improvement we make for them makes our instruction better for everyone. We’ve never seen it work in the other direction.
- That includes kids already ahead of grade level: strong learners here don’t coast, they accelerate.
AI can change what’s possible in education. The science of how children learn will decide whether it does.
- 1:1 instruction has always been the most effective way to learn. AI can finally put it within reach of ordinary families.
- But computers, the internet, and even television in its day all arrived promising to transform learning. National results never moved.
- Technology is necessary; it has never been sufficient. What matters is how instruction is built — and above all, how it’s tested and refined to meet the needs of all learners.
Who we are
Eric (CEO)
Eric nearly dropped out of high school — his dyslexia went undiagnosed until his final year, even as he placed nationally in Canadian math competitions. His math was built from LEGO, not worksheets. Heliomath is the company he wishes had existed when he was eight.
Rob (CTO)
Rob holds a PhD in electrical engineering and has always been interested in how people learn technical subjects — how a rich visualization can convey a STEM concept far more effectively than words alone. That belief shapes how Heliomath teaches. He’s a proud dad of two kids in primary school.
Our commitment
We’re a Public Benefit Corporation ➔ our principles live in the structure of the company, not just its story.
We can’t promise to transform education. No one can. But we can promise where our effort will always point: at the kids nothing else has worked for.
Done right, neither a family’s income nor a child’s diagnosis will say anything about whether they can master math.
